President Layce Watson showed examples of special effects such as heads of animals on bird bodies or various modifications to the human body. With the help of Doug Heckler, she was able to replace a non- descript sky over the Wassenberg Art Center with a blue one with white, puffy clouds.
In other business, she had reported at the July 8 meeting that the club's shirts would be ready in 2 weeks. However, in checking this week, they are still not done.

The big shocker, was the revelation that entries for the Van Wert Co. Fair photo exhibit are due by August. 2! Whether your pictures are ready to show or not, you must register them at the Fair Board office and purchase an $18 ticket by then.

Classes in color (division 1601) or B/W (division 1602) are: Van Wert Co. Fair, The Sky's the Limit, Main Street, Sports Action, and All Creatures Great & Small. Frames cannot have an opening larger than 8x10 and must have glass or Plexiglas over the opening. Frames are to have screw eyes and wire attached for hanging.

Pictures will be received from 1-5 on Sunday, August 29 only and will be judged Monday, August 30, at 6 pm.

The club will meet next on Thursday, Sept.12,. at 7 pm at the Wassenberg Art Center. Special Effects will be the competition theme that evening.

For adults age 18 and over, an interest in photography and a membership in the Wassenberg Art Center are all that’s needed to become a member of the Wassenberg Camera Club. Although the club is formally organized, its meetings are usually conducted quite informally the second and fourth Thursdays of each month at 7 p.m. in the Art Center.

Children under age 18 may attend Camera Club meetings if they are accompanied by a parent/guardian who has a Family Membership with the Wassenberg Art Center .

The second Thursday of each month is designated competition night. Members submit prints and slides on a predetermined theme for the club to judge. There is also an informative program as well as snacks that evening.

On other evenings, members may share pictures of their travels or vacations, discuss plans for upcoming events, or tell what they’ve learned at a conference or seminar they’ve attended.

Annually, the club is involved in the following events:

Sets up and supervises the photo exhibit at the Van Wert County Fair.

Assists the art center with all phases of a juried photo competition with cash prizes in October.

Assists the art center with staging of a noncompetitive photo exhibit, often with another photo club, in the spring.

Holds a special carry-in dinner and program at Christmas.

Participates in other camera clubs’ photocompetitions.

Assist with Photography Exhibit at Van Wert County Fair
