Quota:  400 pints of blood

Each presenting donor receives a t-shirt!
Light meal and snacks served to donors

Potential Blood Donors must be at least 17 years of age and weigh at least 110 pounds,
and have not donated whole blood for 56 days prior to September 12th, 2008.

INDUSTRY BLOOD DRIVE CHALLENGE
In addition to the regular public blood drive,
to get companies to encourage their employees to donate blood,
an industry challenge is issued to get the most employees per company participate.
This is based on % of participation of the total number of employees.
Therefore, no business is too small to participate.
The winning industry will receive the traveling plaque and has bragging rights for 1 year.
Businesses receiving the plaque in the past include Eaton Corporation and Central Insurance.

The food collected helps stock the Salvation Army's food pantry,
which provides food to needy local families.

SERVICE CLUB FOOD DRIVE CHALLENGE
In addition to the regular public food drive,
a food drive challenge is held each year among local service clubs.
Past participants include Kiwanis Club, Optimist Club, Rotary Club, and Sertoma Club.
The service club that collects the most food items per capita will receive
the traveling plaque and has bragging rights for 1 year.
This is a friendly competition between the clubs to promote and support the food drive.
All service club food items must arrive at the Salvation Army
before 1:00pm on Wednesday, September 10, 2008.

 

2008 WINNER - ROTARY
7,866 total food items collected by all clubs!

Van Wert Service Club
-- 56 items/member
Van Wert Optimist Club did not participate in the challenge


This is a friendly challenge between service clubs and the real winners are the people in are community who are struggling to put food on the table.
This is a great start for the Day of Caring food drive.
Anyone wishing to contribute food items can drop them off at
the Salvation Army, 1180 S Washington St, on Friday, September 12, 2008
